So where did it all start for Bardown Barbeque!!.......Well, back in 2018 between a group of friends all playing ice hockey together and loving all things BBQ, we thought why not let’s create a BBQ competition team and try our luck at a local competition, with our backyard knowledge of smoking meat and the love of a cold beer next to a BBQ……what could go wrong!! Well, we soon found out how good we were at Maldon Smoke and Fire Festival, and to our amazement, we were not that bad at smoking meats (and drinking beer) and did rather well, picking up 3 trophies at our first ever competition and shocking some of the veteran BBQ competition teams on the circuit at the point. At that point I knew a passion for smoking meats had only just started.

Fast forward a year we all went our separate ways but the passion for smoking meats had grown tenfold for me. After investing a lot into Bardown Barbeque and dragging the wife into the picture we started attending more BBQ competitions as a duo and doing very well in them, but deep down we both wanted a little bit more. Come to the end of 2019 we decided to make Bardown Barbeque a limited company (wrong timing due to COVID about to hit), it meant we could go from serving food to friends and family at gatherings and parties to now being able to sell food to all the public and put our names on the map.

During the lock down period (sad times) is where it all started for us by providing local take away pickups to the public which went down extremely successful, this was the true starting point of our little family run Bardown Barbeque business. After everything started to get back to normal, we started our pop up events at local breweries and catering for team events and private parties, which we loved doing.
